This spring we are bringing a Bible Conference to the south-central Iowa area. If you have ever wanted to get a better grasp on theology and understand the doctrines in the Bible, then this event is for you! Hear from phenomenal speakers & teachers and be encouraged by the living Word of God.

Meet the Speakers

Dr. Tim Miller 

Vice President of Academics and Dean of Faculty Shepherds Theological Seminary: Cary, NC
Dr. Miller has a Bachelor of Science degree from Maranatha Baptist University, a Master of Biblical Studies from Maranatha Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Divinity from Calvary Baptist Theological Seminary, a PhD in Historical Theology from Westminster Theological Seminary, and a PhD in New Testament from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

Dr. Miller taught at Maranatha Baptist University for four years. Directly before coming to Shepherds, Miller taught at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary for eight years. Dr. Miller also serves as the co-chair of the General Epistles Study Group in the Evangelical Theological Society.

Dr. Miller has a passion for the local church and has served by teaching in his local church, as well as serving as pulpit fill and as an interim pastor. Miller has published widely in academic journals and also has several published works. 

Torrey Robinson 

Senior Pastor, First Baptist Church of Tarrytown, NY (Ret.); Co-Author, It's All in How You Tell It: Preaching First Person Expository Messages; Former Adjunct Professor of Preaching (Denver Seminary, Bethel Seminary, Lancaster Bible College) 
Although Dr. Torrey Robinson officially retired from full-time pastoral ministry in 2022, he continues to enjoy speaking at churches and Bible conferences across the country. Most recently, Torrey served for 25 years as senior pastor of the historic First Baptist Church of Tarrytown, just north of New York City. In addition to his breadth of ministry experience, Torrey has a breadth of education, studying for two years at Dallas Theological Seminary and earning a Master of Divinity degree from Denver Seminary and a Doctor of Ministry degree from Gordon-Conwell Seminary. Over more than 40 years of ministry, Torrey pastored four churches and, co-wrote, with his father, Haddon Robinson, the book “It’s All in How You Tell It – Preaching First Person Expository Messages”.  Along the way, Torrey also served as an adjunct professor of preaching at Denver Seminary, Bethel Seminary and Lancaster Bible College.

Mike Wagner 

Founder, White Rabbit Group
Mike Wagner, the founder of White Rabbit Group (formed in 2004), is an engaging leader and visionary in the field of leadership development. Drawing from a unique blend of practices informed by multiple disciplines including biblical theology, Mike partners with leadership teams to create productive organizations that thrive in today's rapidly changing landscape.

After 14 years serving as a pastor, Mike moved to serving the marketplace. His collaborative approach has earned him the opportunity to create client relationships with companies such as Corteva, Businessolver, Accumold, and John Deere. In Iowa, his impact extends to clients like Iowa State University and LifeServe.

As a member of Waukee Community Church, Mike has been leading men’s discipleship groups while occasionally being asked to deliver Sunday sermons.

Mike's educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Nebraska in History and Classical Greek (1977) and a Master of Theology (Th.M.) degree from Dallas Theological Seminary (1981).

John Ottley 

Chaplain at Vermeer Corp
John has served Vermeer on the chaplain team for 5 years. He’s been married to Kathleen for 45 years. John and Kathleen have four adult children and eight grandchildren. John graduated from Dallas Theological Seminary in 1982 with a degree in Old Testament. John was in pastoral ministry for 35 years before completing a chaplaincy residency at Methodist Hospital in Des Moines. John and Kathleen live in Des Moines and serve at Cottage Grove Church. John has climbed several mountains in CO, CA, & WA.

Laura Carter

Director, Pathways for Women
Laura Carter has been married to Scott for 25 adventurous years. They have been entrusted with three wonderful children, Jackson, Makayla, and Avianna. As missionaries with ReachGlobal, they have the privilege of training men and women around the world how to study the Bible. Laura LOVES seeing women grow in confidence as they progress in their Bible study skills, trusting the Living Word of God and the Spirit to guide them to the truth.
